Is it wrong for me to not recommend my friend to my job?

In these situations you have to think is he going to do a good job? is he going to be reliable? Even though he is your friend, your friend could get on yours nerves for not doing his job. Ive only recommended one friend to one of my past jobs. He is the manager now. Ive actually fired a friend that got hired on with me that i was not aware of. I loved him . But he never show up to work. he was always "sick" Thats annoying.
