Best camera for longboarding and other longboard related filming?

I'm looking to get into making longboarding videos but really want to be sure which camera will be best for me. At this point the gopro helmet hero hd (I think) looks like the best thing but doesn't have a screen for non-action shots. I have been using my iPod touch thus far and am limited by having to hold it and not being able to wear my slide gloves. Opinions, reviews, tips? Thanks!
