Trying to figure this guy out? help!?

Hi. me and this guy used to date about 3 years ago, just recently we became reacquainted and start to talk often. he just moved into a new house and prior to him moving he kept telling me that he wanted me to decorate for him because he didn't know so, I agreed to help him and he was cool with it. The day before he moved in he kept texting me about helping him the following day. I told him I would come over as soon as I got done with my hair salon appointment and he was cool. I called him and he said his homie was helping him move but he would call me later, but he never did. The Next day or morning he calls and says he want me to come over later that day to see him. So, I called him and he was like I'm going to call you back at 6:00pm but he never did so I was like oh well. So the next day he calls me and he's like come over here to my house, so I told him that i was going to the mall and he says stop by here before you go to the mall. So I said okay but I went to the mall first. When I got to his house his brother answered the door and said he was out back. i went out there but he said his mouth was hurting really bad but he wanted me to see the house but after wards he was going to drop his friend off and come back and lay down but at the same time i feel like he was rushing me to leave. So he showed me the house. the rooms that he asked me to fix up his mom did them but I'm like why would you ask me to and then let someone else do them. I stayed about 45 minutes.And he even asked me about what paint color he should use for his living room and if I would check it out for him. I know this might Sound stupid but why would he ask me and then turn around and do something completely different.
